This is a presentation that I’ve done in front of both
fashion classes, within this presentation we had to set up our own fashion
business that linked back to the career that our work suited best. The
strengths of this presentation is that I had all my portfolio e.g. mood boards,
flat illustrations, samples etc. All the boards that I showed were completed
and ready for the presentation. The other strength of my presentation was the
prices that I showed for my garments that I sold was really clear written with
a backed up information that was taken in the costume theater, and also the
brand logo was original and created by me on Photoshop. But on the other hand
the presentation was rushed which confused my audience and they had no clear
idea of what my business is, the style of my work wasn’t really clear because it
had no images of my work on the PowerPoint. The other thing that made my presentation
weak was that my voice wasn’t loud enough for my audience to understand what I’m
saying, and I also handed my work to show my audience which really distracted
them from listening to me.

Weekly diary 03/10/14
Within this session we looked into costume industry,
in the start of the lesson we were all given a fairy tale story and we had read
through the story and pick out a
character from it. After picking out the character we had to design an
illustration of a garments that would suit theatre or film production. The
story that I was given is called 'Rumpelstiltskin'.
This story is of a poor miller’s
beautiful daughter who has been forced by her farther to spin
straw of gold for the king,
so he could have a higher rank in the community. However, she doesn’t know
how to do it
and with confusion she starts to cry. Then a little man
appears in the same room as her, she explains her situation to him.
The little feels pity for her and agrees to doing her job if she gives
something in return. The miller’s daughter agrees to his offer and gives him
her ring, the following morning the king is really pleased with her that he
commands her to do another room full of straw. She starts to weep again and the
same man appears and does her in exchange of her necklace, once she completes
this room the king is so pleased with her work. That he gives her a third room
full of straw and of she completes it he would marry her. This puts greed
within the millers daughters heart to an extent that when she cries on the
third day, she has nothing to offer the little man and promises her first
child. She marries the king. Years later the first child is born and when the
little man arrives to collect the child she disagrees and starts to cry. The
man feels pity for her and asks her to guess his name within three days. She
guesses his name on the third day and the little man becomes really angry with
her that he stamps on the floor so hard that his half body sinks in the ground
and he kills himself.
For this story I wanted to produce a dress for the miller daughter and on the scene where she was poor. So then I reached the different types of dresses that would inspire me. I looked in to the 18th century art because the type of garments that they wore at that time included large quantity of fabric and also had gathers and palettes that would suit the types of garments within theatres and movie productions. I also looked into different types of high end clothing and also searched different types of modern jewellery like ring and necklaces so I could take inspiration from different designs and exaggerate the same look so it’s suitable for theatre. For the patterns of the dress I chose little pretty butterflies because it would show that’s she beautiful and delicate.
After I gathered all the information I presented
it in a mood board and created design illustrations for the garment that I
would use in theatre.

My presentation video
These are screenshots of my presentation that i presented in front of my fashion, i created this board for Kris Jenner and my college tutor who's called Tina. I started with talking about how I first researched her body shape because with that I could find the garments that suit her body shape best. Then finding out the type of garments which suited her I researched the current trend that would appeal to my clients. i spoke about what what designers work i would like Kris Jenner would wear and what garments my college tutor will wear.
Weekly Diary 26/09/14
Within this session we had to work like a
stylist would, so our day started with a brief that was organised by our
teacher and that brief gave us task of
styling a celebrity and a teacher from
our college. We had organise an outfit for the celebrity that wanted a suitable
outfit for a show, it had an unlimited
budget and had conditions that it should suit the celebrity, the style should
be from the 14/15 S/S trends. On the other hand a teacher from our college also
wanted and outfit that trickled down from the celebrities outfit and had a
budget of £200.
In the start of this task I had to pick out
random teacher that from a pile of folded papers that had the name and image of
an teacher from our college, after I knew the teacher the that I as going to style,
I researched the different celebrities that were similar to our teacher. The teacher I had to style was
called Tina and she's female in her mid 40s. The celebrity that in my opinion
was similar was Kris Jenner because they both are mature women an have the
same body shape. They are most likely are the same age and would have a similar
style that they both would find attractive.
To start the styling researched the different types of body shapes
and I found that apple shape is the most
suitable for both of my clients because they mature and elder women. once I was
satisfied with the shape that I choose for them I researched into what garment
suited that body the most. Through that research I discovered that they would
both would suit V neck blouses and modest garments because clothing . After
that I liked at the different types of trends that are around in 14/15 S/S the
two trends that I found most suitable was Fix Up, Look Smart I chose that trend
because it included various design that had smart and modest garments that
would suit both of my clients and I also chose counting sheep's within that
trend because it mixed professional colours with vibrant colours.
After all my base research was complete I looked
into different types of High End designers
because they would suit Kris Jenner's lifestyle. The first designer that
I looked into was Donatella Versace because her design were smart that would be
more suitable for a mature women. The other designer that I looked into was
Chanel because there was different types blouse designs that would boost up
Kris Jenner's body shape. I've also looked into other designers such as Alexis
Mabille, Giambattista Valli, Valentino, Roskanda Ilincic because they all have similar designs and colours.
On the other hand I have looked at shops Debenhams, Next, George for Tina because
I found smart designs that were also affordable.
Once I had gathered all the designs I presented
my work as a style mood board, and then I presented my ideas to the class so its clear what research I've
done and why I choose those particular garments.
